|DAY 48 - OCT 19 - WEDNESDAY
We left the Colorado Springs area campground and headed south on I-25 to Pueblo and then east on Route 50 across Colorado and into Kansas. We had not been on this route before and wanted to see some rural country. Most of the driving was on a two lane road with a lot of farmland as well as prairie and occasional small towns.
A little west of Dodge City, a pickup truck pulled along side us and motioned to us, explaining that a piece of the camper had apparently flown off about 5 miles back! Hate when that happens! Sure enough, we stopped and checked. The cover for the roof A/C unit had apparently broken and flown off when one of those big 18 wheelers passed us. Oh well, something always seems to go wrong along the way when traveling.
We made our way to a campground outside of Wichita, KS for Night 48, arriving after dark after a long day of driving.

We think this is grain, but it looks like something you would make as a kid
with colored sand in a bottle.
A huge depot for windmill parts along Route 400 in Kansas.
Where's the beef? Right here in cattle country. Kansas.
These guys know their days are numbered. Says so right on the ear tag someplace.
Always heard of Dodge City. First time here.
That's what a roof A/C unit looks like without its cover.
A long drive coming to an end in Kansas.
