BRUSH BREAKERS IN ACTION 2006 PLYMOUTH COUNTY DRILL
The power of the brush breaker was demonstrated
during a county wide training exercise
in Plymouth in April 2006. Personnel from several departments got valuable
experience
on a "breaker trail" circuit that provided driving experience, officer
experience, and additional
experience in use of chainsaws, winches, etc.
NEW PLYMOUTH BREAKER 175
Plymouth Breaker 175
Plymouth built this brush breaker in 2006. The Freightliner
FL80 chassis was acquired in 2005 and EJ Murphy
built the brush breaker in 2006. It has a 200 gpm pump, 650 gallon tank, and
a 25 gallon class A foam system.
It went in service July 2006 at Station 5.
The new Breaker 175 replaced this 1991 International / Murphy
brush breaker which was reassigned as Breaker 375 serving
as a spare breaker.
PLYMOUTH BREAKER 375
The 1991 International / EJ Murphy brush breaker, formerly 175, was
reassigned as Breaker 375
at Station 5 serving as a spare brush breaker.
HARWICH FORESTRY 67
Harwich Forestry 67
2006 Ford F350 with 250 gpm / 200 gals
replaced older forestry truck.
WEST TISBURY BREAKER 732
West Tisbury Breaker 732
This 2006 Sterling / EJ Murphy brush breaker went in service in Oct
2006.
It has a 300 gpm pump, 650 gallon tank, and has a 20 gallon class A foam
system. The impressive new breaker replaced the 1959 Ford / Maynard
brush breaker.

ONSET BREAKER 147
Onset Breaker 147 in 2004.
Onset fire department members rebuilt their brush breaker in 2006.
The old tank was removed. All the iron bar work was redone. The basic
design was tweaked.

The refurbished brush breaker is a 1974 Military chassis.
The truck was completely refurbished and now has a poly 750 gallon tank.
