1950's - 1960's
The
Second Generation County Brush Breaker C-14
The second county brush breaker (1942 Ford) was replaced in 1958 by this
Maxim custom 800 gallon brush breaker. This No.2 (C-14) was assigned to
the
West Barnstable Fire Department from 1958 until 1985.
West Barnstable's 1956 Ford/Bean pumper and county
brush breaker C-14 extinguished a
grass fire behind this barn.
A County brush breaker (C-14) is
refilled by the East Sandwich tanker. A fire patrol truck is also
shown.
BARNSTABLE
COUNTY BRUSH BREAKER No.4 - SECOND GENERATION
The Maxim Motors Fire
Apparatus Company built this custom brush breaker for
Barnstable County No.4 in 1960.
The Barnstable County Forest Fire Service
built this brush breaker in 1960
to replace the 1949 No.4 Ford brush breaker in Dennis.
The custom Maxim brush breaker No.4 was designated C-12.
It served in Dennis from 1960 to the 1980s.

Former county C-12 then went to the Brewster Fire
Department where it was
designated as Breaker 235 for a number of years.

235 in 2001. It is shown here behind the Brewster FD.

BARNSTABLE
COUNTY BRUSH BREAKER No.3 - SECOND GENERATION
The
Second Generation County Brush Breaker C-13
County brush breaker No.3 (C-13) was assigned to Orleans. It was a custom
1963 Maxim
800 gallon brush breaker.
Barnstable County brush breaker C-13 at the Orleans fire station in

along with the 1950s FWD and 1966 Mack.
When C-13 retired from the County service in
Dennis,
the Eastham Fire Department operated it. Eastham added
some teeth to the breaker.
Former county C-13 behind the Eastham Fire Station.
The Brewster Fire Department took on the former
County C-13 (1963 Maxim) for a number
of years. It was called Brewster breaker 255. Brewster had both C-12
and C-13 for years
until they became mechanically unable to be fixed.
