Hiroshima Morning
We started out the day looking our the window of our hotel room. It is a beautiful day for another adventure. Today will be a fun day.

We enjoyed a great buffet breakfast and headed out into Hiroshima.

Hiroshima Street Cars
We walked a short distance from the hotel to the local street car platform in the middle of the street.

Since there is no train station to go thru, paying for a street car is done with a card swipe getting on and a card swipe getting off.

The sight impaired path continues.

Hiroshima Fire Station
This South Hiroshima Fire Station is also the Aquatic Station.

Hiroshima Fireboat
The Hiroshima Fireboat is located on the waterside of a seawall behind the Hiroshima Aquatic Fire Station.

Ferry Terminal
A little ways from the Hiroshima Fireboat Station is a Ferry Terminal. Many different ferries, passenger and vehicle, come and go from here to several different destinations.

We were issued tickets "boarding passes" for our ferry. I got "Seven!"

Lots of ferries coming and going.

Breakwaters at the entrance of this harbor. Both have lighthouses. Red on the right on return.

A beautiful day to be on the water.

The ferry made a quick stop at a hotel before heading to the island.

Approaching Miyajima Island, there are many of these floating "Oyster beds."
Hiroshima Oysters are apparently very popular.

Miyajima Island
It was about an hour ferry ride to Miyajima Island. As we approached the ferry dock, a Fireboat I had not known about in advance came into sight. The bonus boat is the Hatsukaichi City Fireboat which has a landing craft type bow. The vessel can carry an ambulance to remote islands if needed.

Friendly Deer
Miyajima Island draws a lot of tourists. One of the attractions is the friendly deer. These deer have no fear of the thousands of people who visit daily. They are very persistent, and find food one way or another.

The Grand Torii Gate
Miyajima draws tourist primarily to see the historic Grand Torii Gate that is out in the water.

Ferry Back to Hiroshima
We took a ferry back to Hiroshima that went up the river, under some low bridges, to the Hiroshima Memorial Park.

Good Idea
After a long day. Completely understandable, even in English.

Red. White. And Blue.  Tall, Cold and Tasty. Going. Going. Gone!

We saw where they come from out near Miyajima Island.
