WEEK 7
DAY 45
DAY 45 - OCT 16 - SUNDAY We needed to make some miles today and there was a lot to see along the way, so we got off to an early, pre-sunrise start at Lake Havasu. It was one of those beautiful sky blue pink mornings. From Lake Havasu, we headed back up to I-40 and east a ways. We hadn't really planned on visiting the Grand Canyon, having been there twice before, but the reality is you can not be this close to the Grand Canyon and not take another look. It is truly one of the most amazing sights so that's what we did first. On the way into the park, we notice the Grand Canyon airport and sure enough, they had a couple ARFF trucks parked outside, probably so I could get some pictures.... Our visit to the south rim of the Grand Canyon included lunch and a drive along the edge, with a bunch of stops for that one perfect picture or two... Running out of time, we got back in the camper and headed north towards Lake Powell to a campground for Night 45. The campground is located right on the Utah border overlooking Lake Powell. Another great day. |

Sky blue pink sunrise in the desert.
First cup of coffee
So this is what you tow your racing boat with...
You have to take pictures like this just to prove you were there.
Yup, "Been there, done that again."
Incredible no matter which way you look.
A little breezy here today
Right after this picture, the rock slid and went over the edge taking him a
couple thousand feet
down to the bottom of the Canyon like Wile E Coyote! Just kidding, but
seriously, it would
have been a long way down if it did. "Beep Beep!"
The mighty Colorado River winds through the floor of the Grand Canyon.
The visit to the Grand Canyon was brief. Then it was north towards
Lake Powell
through more spectacular scenery.
Lake Powell in the distance.
The Glen Canyon Dam created Lake Powell out of the Colorado River,
upstream from the Grand Canyon, at Page, Arizona on the Utah border.
Years ago we rented a boat and spent the day on Lake Powell.
What a spectacular place.
The marina at Wahweap on Lake Powell.
There is a fireboat there some place.
We'll find it in the morning.
