DAY 14 - SEPT 15 - THURSDAY     We made our way across Canada in a quick 5 days. Now we are back in the USA. We started out from our campground at Whitefish, MT and drove south along the very beautiful Flathead Lake. We had visited Flathead once before in 2000 with the kids. In fact, the Christmas card picture that year was taken with a rainbow over Flathead lake behind the smiling little ones as they posed briefly before going back to fighting with each other.     On the south end of Flathead Lake is the town of Polson. We stopped there to have lunch. After poking around a little we found this funky little outside, almost like a food truck place that caught our eye. While ordering sandwiches, we were offered a taste of some of their "clam chowdah."  Now we are from New England. We are thousands of miles from home. How good can clam chowdah be out here in Montana?  It was good enough we both ordered BOWLS and bragged about it the rest of the trip!  No kidding... Montana clam chowdah!  Try it.     After lunch it was off to Missoula, home of Smoke Jumper school. We visited and picked up a couple things at the gift shop.  Then found a campground for the night.  We needed to resupply some items and did some shopping before settling in for Night 14 in Missoula, MT.

DISTANCE:  143 miles for the Day / 4482 miles for Trip so far
