DAY 11

Provincial capital of Regina, Saskatchewan

DAY 11 - SEPT 12 - MONDAY
We started out from the campground in Regina and looked for a few fire stations. Then we went to the beautiful Provincial capital Legislative building which was on beautiful gardened grounds. Then back onto the Trans-Canada Highway heading west thru more prairie and farm lands into the next Province of Alberta (AB).

As we approached the city of Calgary, AB it appears to rise out of the fields in the distance with mountains in the background. We drove around downtown a little so get a feel for things and then stopped for dinner at a nice steak house.

While talking with our waitress at dinner, we learned of a place called Drumheller that sounded like a very interesting place to go tomorrow.

We made it back to our campground just to the east of Calgary for Night 11 and enjoyed a spectacular sunset over the Canadian Rockies.

A little firehouse in a little place called Morse in western SK

This caught our eye. The giant rescue helicopter weathervane is along the Trans Canada highway
in Swift Current, SK.

A beautiful sky in this big sky country

The rail lines often run along with the highways. It is amazing how much is moved by
these trains moving back and forth across the continent.

Happens all the time....

Welcome to Alberta!

Looks a lot like Saskatchewan.... but its really Alberta!

Good thing for the clouds or there wouldn't be much to see.

We could see Calgary on the horizon for miles.  It is a large, modern city
with a recognizable skyline.

The Calgary Tower opened in 1968. It is 627 feet (191 meters) tall.

Protecting Calgary downtown.

One of the tallest and more interesting buildings in Calgary
is called "The Bow"  The office building stands at 774 feet, 58 stories.

In the plaza at the base of the bow is this wire mesh sculpture
called Wonderland.

Sun setting over the Canadian Rockies from east of Calgary, Alberta
where we would spend the night in a campground.
