2 - On My Own. Around the Gulf Coast

FLORIDA WEST COAST
I set off on my own March 18 heading to the Florida West coast to find a few more boats.
A visit to Iona McGregor found some nice looking apparatus and an update on their boat.

ROAD TRIP - FLORIDA - MARCH 2021

1 - South to the Sunshine State
2 - On My Own. Around the Gulf Coast
3 - On My Own. New Orleans Area
4 - On My Own. Why Not Crosby Texas!
5 - On My Own. Mississippi to Louisville
6 - On My Own. Vintage Fire Museum, Jeffersonville, IN
7 - On My Own. To Cincinnati and Beyond.

IONA MCGREGOR, FL
I was curious about the Iona McGregor Fireboat that I had last seen in 2016.
The Marina had changed considerably since then with a huge new outdoor boat storage rack system.
There was also some expanded docks and the Iona McGregor Fireboat had its own dedicated spot.

The Iona McGregor 2015 Metal Shark 32' fireboat in its own new dock.

SANIBEL ISLAND
Next it was off to Sanibel Island and Captiva Island to check out their boats.
A new Sanibel boat is on order, but is not in yet.

CAPTIVA
Captiva Island Fire Station.

The Capitva Fire Boat is a 2019 Metal Shark.

MISSISSIPPI GULF
After a brief visit to the warm and sunny Florida West coast, it was time to head North
to the Florida pan-handle and West along the Gulf Coast to Mississippi.
Moss Point is near Pascagoula, MS

PASCAGOULA, MS
Central Fire Station is Pascagoula, Mississippi.

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS
This fire station caught my eye, with its interesting architecture and open bay doors.
Ocean Springs, MS.  And, they had boats.

BILOXI, MS
My research had put a visit to Biloxi, MS on the "to do list."
The Biloxi Fireboat is a 2018 North River 33' boat named "Serena G" after the mayor's wife.

CATBOAT
I spotted a familiar looking "catboat" in Biloxi.

An impressive looking public safety facility in Biloxi.

GULFPORT, MS
Another city that had been put on the "to do list" was Gulfport, MS.
After seeing Engine 1 on a call, I learned where the Gulfport Fireboat was kept.

STATION 7
Gulfport Station 7 is built next to the old Station 7 which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The 2010 Northwind 30' Gulfport Fireboat is housed in Station 7.

The walls of the former Gulfport Station 7 still standing.
