WBFD - FUNERAL - FOR JOHN P JENKINS
Retired West Barnstable Fire Chief John Palmer Jenkins passed away
on September 27, 2022, at age 77. He had served West Barnstable
as their Fire Chief from 1973 to 2005.
Funeral Services for Chief Jenkins were held in
his beloved village
of West Barnstable. Many gathered at the historic West Parish Church
and Meetinghouse at 10:00 hrs on Saturday October 8, 2022.
A procession with Chief Jenkins casket being
carried on the 1956 Ford
Engine 292 went up Meetinghouse Way, past the West Barnstable
Fire Station, to his final resting place in the Old West Barnstable
Cemetery at the corner or Route 6A and Route 149.
A gathering followed at the Jenkins property
where the old
Chicken Coop once served as "Station 2".
