 COLORADO
January 31, 2025 - February 18, 2025

Our Colorado 2025 Trip started out from Boston with a flight
to Denver International Airport.

About 1 hour south of Denver is Colorado Springs, which became our home
for a few weeks.

The Colorado Springs area is beautiful in many ways.
So much to see and do, including Pikes Peak, the Garden of the Gods,
the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial, and so much more.

Part of our trip also enjoyed a special 2 night visit to New Mexico.

The visit, like most of our trips, included visits to various Fire Stations
and all the neighborhoods and scenery observed in the dot to dot travel in between.

The weather in February, was as warm as 72 degrees one day,
and 1 degree or below just days later.

We had a wonderful visit and look forward to more visits in the future.

Rocky Mountains

Feb 3

We drove into the mountains on Route 24 from Colorado Springs
to Buena Vista for lunch, with a few stops along the way.

Florrissant Fire Department

Feb 3

Florrissant is a community at about 8,200 feet elevation
on Route 24 in the mountains.

The trucks were parked outside of this Volunteer FD
prompting a visit.

The Hayman Fire was a large forest fire in June 2002.
It claimed over 138,000 acres and 6 lives.

Florrissant to Buena Vista

Feb 3

The drive is too beautiful to accurately capture in pictures.

In a past RV trip we had actually stayed in that campground
near Buena Vista.

Jan's - Buena Vista - Yum!

We had a nice lunch, and a piece of pie, at Jan's
in Buena Vista.
