Welcome to the website for the
Centerville- Osterville- Marstons Mills Office of Fire Prevention. Our offices
are located in the Centerville Fire Department Headquarters Station 1 on
Falmouth Road (Route 28). There are two Certified Fire Inspectors on staff to
assist with your fire prevention needs and questions. Our inspectors work
Monday through Friday and office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We can
be contacted by telephone at 508-790-2375 Ext. 1 during these same hours.
The administrative office at the
headquarters station is staffed with a Fire Chief, a Deputy Fire Chief, two Fire
Prevention Officers and two administrative assistants. The Fire Chief and the
Deputy Fire Chief supervise and direct the fire prevention efforts of the
department. Their delegation of authority allows the fire prevention officers
to work independently on an operational level and report significant information
back through the command structure. In addition to their other duties, the
administrative assistants coordinate the clerical side of the permit process,
re-direct telephone and written correspondence relating to fire prevention and
schedule the daily inspections for the fire prevention division. They are
instrumental in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation. Together, we all
work as a team to maximize efficiency and provide the best service possible to
the public.
The duties of a fire inspector are
to provide information relative to life safety and fire prevention through
education, training and code enforcement. Fire inspectors must know and
interpret the different laws, codes and standards that relate to the fire
service and apply that knowledge to individual situations. The fire prevention
division is also responsible for managing the permitting process, coordinating/
conducting fire and life safety inspections and reviewing plans for the
installation of fire protection equipment. The fire inspector is also
responsible for developing and delivering fire prevention and educational
programs for the public. Our fire inspectors also have specialized training in
fire suppression and emergency medicine and may be utilized during fire-ground
and rescue incidents. We pride ourselves on providing an informative and
friendly customer service environment for the entire public.
We welcome you to our website and
hope you enjoy the information we have available. Please feel free to contact
us with any questions you have relative to fire prevention or fire safety
education.
