Boston fire fighters responded to a fire in a 4 story brick residential
structure
at 131 Endicott Street in the city's congested north end around 1900 hrs
on Thursday February 22, 2007. The fire quickly went to 4 alarms and
ultimately to 6 alarms bringing dozens of apparatus and approximately 150
fire fighters to the scene. The large brick building was home to dozens who
were evacuated. The fire spread to 2 adjacent structures before being
brought
under control. The north end has extremely narrow streets and very congested
buildings presenting fire fighters with a real challenge to contain this fire.
A total of 21 apartments destroyed and over 50 people displaced from 3
buildings.
