WEST BARNSTABLE CHANGE OF COMMAND
The West Barnstable Fire Department welcomed the community, family, friends,
and many past and present members of the WBFD to a Change of Command Ceremony
at the WBFD Fire Headquarters on Sunday April 28, 2024.
Retiring Chief Joe Maruca was recognized for his 20
years (2005-2024) as Fire Chief,
and 47 years total in the fire service.
Long time department member, and Deputy Chief since 2014,
David Paananen,
was then sworn in as the new West Barnstable Fire Chief.
Hundreds of people got their starts in their fire service
careers over the past few decades
at the West Barnstable Fire Department.
Many showed up to experience the important change of leadership
and to share vital friendships built over many years.
