THE FIRST MAJOR FIRE OF 2024

FALMOUTH 3RD ALARM
A fire broke out just after 17:00 hrs on Monday January 1, 2024
in a 2-1/2 story wooden commercial structure with apartments above
at 176 Main Street, Falmouth center.

On arrival, the Shift Captain in Car 28 reported heavy fire showing from
a 2nd floor apartment on the A/D corner facing Main Street. A Second Alarm
was transmitted bringing crews from several departments to the scene.

Falmouth crews established water supplies and began fire attack
while Ladder 26 threw the stick to the roof.

A 3rd Alarm was transmitted bringing additional resources to the scene.
The COMM Ladder 307 setup on side C (rear) of the structure.

The fire took several hours to extinguish.
Several minor injuries to civilians and firefighters.
Reports also stated that a cat was rescued from a second floor apartment.

Units from Falmouth, Joint Base, Bourne, Mashpee, Cotuit, COMM,
Sandwich, and Hyannis operated on scene.
Providence Canteen also responded.
Crews from Sandwich, West Barnstable, Bourne, and Onset covered
Falmouth Stations.

This was the first major fire on the Cape in 2024.

Not common to see a Hyannis Tower Ladder on Main St
in Falmouth, although it is the second time in less than
a month that the Hyannis Tower has come to Falmouth
for a 3rd Alarm incident.
