PAUL FREDERICK PRUE
1935 - 2024
Retired Dennis Call Deputy Chief Paul F Prue (C-3) passed away
on September 23, 2024. He was 89 years old.
Deputy Prue joined the Dennis Fire Department around 1953 as
a call firefighter on the "North Side" at Dennis Station 2.
Over the years, he became a Lieutenant, Captain, and then Deputy
from 1978 until 2000.
He loved to teach, particularly fire ground hydraulics and
friction loss,
which he did for many years across the Cape and beyond.
He was a Charter Member of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy
and served as an Instructor for many years.
He served 47 years, retiring from the Fire Department in 2000
at age 65.
He served the town as a Water Commissioner from 1977 until his passing.
He was Chairman of the Commission since 2009.
Additionally, he was on the Dennis Conservation Trust Board and
many other committees over the years.
He worked with the family business, the Prue Foundry, for over
60 years.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Paul R Prue (retired fulltime Dennis
Firefighter),
daughter Michelle, 10 grandchilderen, 5 great grandchildren, and neices and
nephews.
Services for Deputy Prue were held on September 28 and 29,
2024.
He was buried in the Dennis Village Cemetery, within sight
of the 'old' Dennis Fire Station 2 on Old Bass River Road.
