Louisville Fireboats
"Marine Units"
The City of Louisville, Kentucky is located on the Ohio River.
The department's boats are docked with the Belle of Louisville Riverboats
along the Riverwalk below I-64 between N 3rd St and N 4th St.
One of the boats is a former USCG 41' Utility Boat.
That boat remains in service.
The second boat was a 2009 Maralargo Fire Cat 29' fiberglass Fireboats.
It was equipped with twin Mercury 300 hp outbards.
The boat had 2 monitors and could pump around 1500 gpm.
In June 2018 that boat sunk at the dock during a storm.
It was recovered, but it is unclear whether it was reparable or not.
Original photos taken in Sept 2016 show both boats.
A March 2021 visit shows only the USCG 41 footer.
Several other departments in the Louisville area also have boats.
