SECOND ALARM
The Sandwich Fire Department was dispatched to a reported
Structure Fire at the Daniel Webster Inn, at 149 Main Street,
at approximately 0100 Hours on June 11, 2024.
The large, historical Inn, was occupied
at the time of the fire.
First arriving Engine 1 had heavy fire showing at the rear (Side C)
of the large complex, in the area of the kitchen.
The building was being evacuated as
crews made an attack on the fire.
A Working Fire assignment and Second Alarm were transmitted
soon after arrival bringing assistance from Bourne, Joint Base,
Plymouth Station 6, West Barnstable, and Barnstable,
with coverage for various coverage assignments.
The fire was knocked down and prevented
from extending further.
A large number of occupants were displaced by the fire and had to
be relocated.
The Daniel Webster Inn is a long time,
historical Inn in Sandwich.
A major fire destroyed the Inn in the 1970's.
It was rebuilt following the April 22, 1971 fire.
