ABOUT

In about 1978, the Barnstable Fire District built a new brush breaker. Using a 1952 REO former military 6x6 chassis and some local talent, they built this Breaker 204. It had about a 250 gpm rear pump and 1000 gallon tank. The truck also had a front mount pump, probably 500 gpm. The truck was painted a lime-yellow color as was popular at the time. It was the only of Barnstable's apparatus to ever be painted the color. The truck was nick named the "Iron Lion" and would go on to serve for about 10 years (1978-1988). Barnstable got rid of the truck and it went on to serve in Nantucket for a number of years as well.
