Oak Bluffs Fire Department was never known for having any brush or forestry apparatus. The drawing at the top of this page shows what might have been a 1970s concept combination brush/hose truck, but it is unknown if anything like it was ever built. Oak Bluffs did operate this 1980 Chevy Mini-Pumper. It served initially as Rescue 1 (M-46) and then as Rescue 561. It is shown as Attack 1. This truck was a typical Mini-Pumper of the era with a 250 gpm pump and about 275 gallon tank. It would have been used for smaller brush fires or off road incidents that the larger engines might have been less effective. Upon its retirement, probably around 2001 when the Oak Bluffs Heavy Rescue came, the truck was in reserve and eventually ended up serving with the DCR at the Manuel Corellus State Forest. |

The Oak Bluffs Fire Chief originally used this vehicle as the Chief's vehicle Car 510. It served from about 2016 until about 2021 when a small tank and pump were added to enable the truck to serve as more of a Forestry unit when necessary. |
