NEW FIRE DEPARTMENT

Massachusetts Military Reservation Fire Department
Recent legislation at the Massachusetts State House has created a
unique 'State' fire department to be known as the Massachusetts
Military Reservation Fire Department. This state run department
will replace the former federal run Otis Fire Department. The
department will continue to operate from the new fire station at
the base and many of the same personnel will remain, but the
new department will operate on a 4 group, 42 hour schedule
instead of the 2 group 72 hour schedule. Some of the apparatus
will remain, but much of it will not. Already some of the modern
crash equipment has been taken back by the feds and reassigned.
