Sunday October 27, 2013 Approx 1215 Hrs
FALMOUTH STRUCTURE FIRE
The Falmouth Fire Department responded to a
reported structure fire in the Waquoit
section of East Falmouth on Sunday October 27, 2013. The fire reported just after noon
time was on Route 28 near the intersection of Martin Road near the Mashpee town line.
Heavy smoke was visible in the sky for miles as crews, including an engine from the nearby
Mashpee Station 2, responded to the fire. Mashpee Engine 351 found heavy fire involving the
garage type structure and exposing a couple vehicles, boats, and equipment to fire and heat.
A large propane tank against the building was venting and crews initially played a deckgun
stream to cool the tank. A second alarm brought crews from Falmouth, Mashpee, Cotuit, and MMR
to the fire with crews from Bourne, COMM, and other departments moving for coverage assignments.
