MAIN STREET FIRE
Cotuit Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 960 Main
Street at about 1600 hours
on Wednesday July 27, 2016. On arrival, Engine 263 found heavy smoke
showing from the rear of a
large 2 story home overlooking Cotuit Harbor. An attack was made on the fire in
a lower level of
the home while a 2nd alarm was struck bringing additional help in from several
departments including
COMM, Hyannis, West Barnstable, and Sandwich. Mashpee FD would normally
respond but was
committed at an incident of their own at the time. Due to Mashpee not being
available and the
COMM FD Ladder truck being out of service, Hyannis Tower 829 was called in as
the truck
company. The fire was brought under control quickly and damage was contained by
crews
working over an hour or so in the summer heat.
