Early on, the fire from Osterville.
BRUSH FIRE - JOINT BASE CAPE COD
After several days of successful prescribed controlled burns at the Joint
Base Cape Cod,
a brush fire got started about 13:30 on Thursday May 1, 2025.
The fire in the area of Frank Perkins Road and Wheeler Road, near Range Control,
got away and headed north and west from the origin burning several hundred acres
of woods bordering the power lines on the west side of the base,
The fire took off and required a large Mutual Aid Response
from Cape Cod
and a response of Task Forces from Plymouth County. The fire burned
out of control for several hours, being brought under control about sunset.
Helicopters from the National Guard and State Police assisted
with aerial
water drops to help contain and control the fire.

From the Clay Pond Road, Monument Beach area.
Brush Breakers and apparatus from Plymouth County Task Forces
responded to the Cape under Mutual Aid.
Helicopters with National Guard and the State Police
dropped water on the fire.
Ultimately, the fire was brought under control by additional
controlled burns of areas to prevent further spread of the fire.
After about 6 hours, the fire was contained.
Crews remained on scene well into the evening to control the fire.
