WORKING FIRE
Civilians apparently noticed smoke coming from behind the closed Citizens Bank, on Wianno Ave
in Osterville around 14:30 hrs on Saturday July 31, 2021 and called 911 bringing a structure fire
response from COMM Fire Department. A civilian was attempting to pull burnt siding materials
off the rear of the bank as Engine 304 arrived with smoke showing. A hoseline was advanced
and quickly knocked down a rapidly extending fire before it could do much damage to the
interior of the building. A Working Fire was requested, as other COMM units were
initially on other calls at the time. Cotuit E265 assisted at the scene and other
departments covered stations. The fire appeared consistent with what could have
been a mulch fire that caught the vinyl siding and extended upward.
