Newburyport Fireboat
"MARINE 1"

The Town of Newburyport is located on the south side of the Merrimack River
near the Massachusetts / New Hampshire border.

Newburyport took delivery of a 2007 Metalcraft Firestorm 30 fireboat in 2020.
The 2,000 gpm vessel was originally built for the Portsmouth, NH Fire Department
and operated there as "Fireboat 1" (Sagamore) for several years. In 2016, Portsmouth let the boat
go and neighboring New Castle, NH took it over for a few years.

Newburyport had recently been operating a 1977 former USCG 41' vessel that was acquired
in 2015 as the "Raven" or "Marine 2". That vessel has 250 gpm pump and 2 small nozzles.
The Raven was named after Newburyport Firefighter Tony Raven, a 33 year veteran of
the department who passed away at age 64 just days after battling a large fire in 2016.

When Newburyport had the opportunity to acquire the former Portsmouth / New Castle boat,
the "Raven" became surplus and actually was picked up by the Hyannis Fire Department.

The Newburyport "Marine 1" is docked at the municipal pier at Cashman Park
off of Sally Snyder Way, just north of the Route 1 bridge.

"The Raven"

NOTE
The 1977 former USCG Fireboat Raven was replaced in 2020 by the
2006 MetalCraft Firestorm 30, 2000 gpm Fireboat, that originally served
Portsmouth, NH and then New Castle, NH.
The "Raven" was transferred to the Hyannis, MA Fire Department
in Summer 2020
